Our Mission
Our History
In 2006, Marin City Health and Wellness Center was founded by a group of Marin City residents to provide high-quality, culturally sensitive healthcare. Every day, we address the social determinants of health—the reality that a patient’s ZIP code has a greater impact on their well-being than an individual’s genetics.
In 2011, the MCHWC became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and better able to provide integrated healthcare to patients. Six years later, it became a Patient-Centered Medical Home with expanded services including Behavioral Health and Medicated Assisted Treatment (aka “MAT”) program. In 2016, Marin City Health and Wellness extended its services to Bayview Hunters Point. The Bayview Hunters Point Medical Center continues the legacy of Dr. Arthur H. Coleman and his team of African American Physicians who provided medical services for more than 50 years. In 2023, our flagship location in Marin City relocated to a larger facility to accommodate the clinic’s 3,000+ patients. After renovations and retrofitting, we welcomed a new total of 15 exam rooms and updated emergency management systems, including a power generator, and a new HVAC system.
